How to extract audio from a video on iPhone
Short answer: open the video in Lunio, pick a format (MP3, M4A, WAV or FLAC) and tap Extract Audio. It works on the iPhone itself, offline, and takes a few seconds.
With Lunio (MP3, M4A, WAV or FLAC)
- Install Lunio (free).
- Tap Choose Video and pick a video from Photos — or tap the folder button for Files.
- Choose a format. MP3 and M4A are free; 320 kbps MP3, WAV and FLAC are part of Lunio Pro.
- Tap Extract Audio. The clip is saved in Lunio’s Library.
- Tap Share to send it, or the folder button to save it to Files.
From another app: tap Share on a video and choose Lunio. This works with any app that shares the video file itself. If an app only shares a link, save the video to Photos first.
Many videos at once: tap Batch and select several videos.
Without an app: Shortcuts
The built-in Shortcuts app can do a basic version:
- Create a shortcut with the action Encode Media.
- Turn on Audio Only.
- Add Save File.
This gives an M4A file. It has no MP3, no trimming and no batch, but it needs nothing extra installed.
Tips
- MP3 is the most compatible; M4A is smaller at the same quality; WAV and FLAC are lossless.
- Turn on Normalize volume in Lunio for quiet recordings.
- Lunio cannot download videos from websites or social apps — it works with videos you already have.
